The signing of the peace agreement in 2016 in Columbia has opened up new touristic possibilities for the country. Columbia is already a trendy destination. Under these new conditions, previously infrequently visited destinations shall now become part of the Columbian tourist map. As experts on behalf of Swisscontact, Barbara Urfer, partner at gutundgut, adventure specialist Jerun Nils and ornithologist Juanita Olano Marín spent two weeks in Yopal in the province Casanare as well as in Mocoa in the region of Putumayo near Ecuador. The aim of this cooperation was the development of touristic offers which can compete in the international tourist market. The close cooperation with the local chambers of commerce and the service providers of each destination were of crucial importance.
